The following tours and excursions are offered for the Congress. Tickets can be ordered in advance when registering for the Congress. Tickets will be handed out together tith the congress material at the registration desk.
Tours will only be held if the minimum number of 20 participants is reached in advance. All tours are held in Englisch and are subject to alterations.
For Accompannying Persons the City Tour "Historical Vienna" is already included in the fee. Tickets will be automatically booked when registering as Accompanying Person.
Monday, July 3, 2006 City Tour "Historical Vienna" | This tour will give you an overall impression of the city of Vienna, including the Ringstrasse with its magnificent buildings such as the State Opera House, the Museums of Fine Arts and Natural History, the Hofburg (Imperial Palace), the Parliament, the City Hall, the Burgtheater and the Votive Church. The highlight of this tour is a guided tour through the wonderful stately rooms of Schönbrunn Palace, the former summer residence of the Habsburg family. Return via Belvedere Palace.

Tuesday, July 4, 2006 | Vienna Woods | Get acquainted with some of the most interesting sights in the southern part of the Vienna Woods. You will be driven through the romantic Helenental valley to Baden, a place famous for operetta performances and its thermal springs. After a brief guided tour through the city, you will be taken to Mayerling, where crown prince Rudolph, the only son of Emperor Franz Joseph, together with baronesse Vetsera, found a tragic end in 1889. The tour continues to Heiligenkreuz, the Cistercian monastery founded in 1133, where the last Babenbergs are buried.

Panoramatour Kahlenberg & Klosterneuburg
Have a look over Vienna from the hill-top of Kahlenberg in the Vienna Woods, see the Danube and the romantic little villages of Nussdorf and Grinzing. We continue to Klosterneuburg and pay a visit to the Augustinian Abbey with the world-famous "Verduner Altar" dating back to the 12th century.

Danube Valley Wachau
| This tour will take you west of Vienna, to the beautiful part of the Danube Valley known as the "Wachau". The full day's journey includes a visit to the magnificent Benedictine Abbey of Melk, one of the best examples of Baroque architecture in Austria and often referred to as the "cradle of Austria". A stop in the picturesque village of Dürnstein, where King Richard the Lionhearted of England was held prisoner until rescued by his faithful minstrel Blondel, is particularly worthwhile, as well as the old merchants' town of Krems. |
