Computational Aeroacoustics – Models and Methods

The structured session invites contributions covering recent developments of numerical simulation techniques for aeroacoustics applications. Emphasis is placed on


  • the capability of numerical algorithms to accurately simulate generation and propagation of acoustic disturbances in unsteady flows,
  • the development of proper boundary conditions,
  • the computational efficiency, and
  • the validation of numerical simulation with theories and/or experiments.


Applications involving sound generation by turbulent flows and its propagation, flow-sound interactions and resonance, interactions between sound and stationary/moving structures in flows, aeroacoustics of jets, wakes and boundary layers, etc, are expected in the session.
